How To Backup Wii Games

If you are in the mood to backup your Wii games (you should be!), read and put to use the instructions below. And in no time, answering the query “how to backup Wii games” will be totally easy.

Step 1: First, start with the very basic. Find out whether the computer you’re using can identify the Wii programming. If your computer cannot do so, you will need a special recognition program that enables your computer to read the Wii files (Web sites of Wii video games normally houses Wii recognition programs. Here is a review of my favorite).

Step 2: After installing the “special recognition program”, insert your Wii disc into the CD or DVD drive in order to activate the program.

Step 3: A window may just pop out of the computer screen, instructing you to download a certain program before moving on with the next step. Simply follow the instructions given to you. After doing everything properly, you will now be able to save Wii game information into your hard drive (You can either save it on an SD card, on your computer, or burn it on a different disc).

Step 4: After saving the information, remove the Wii disc.

Step 5: Modifying the hardware of your Wii is next. To do this, you can either open you console and install a chip inside so as to recognize the backup games or download a software known as Easy Backup Wizard (EBW allows you to copy Wii games even without installing a chip or anything).

Step 6: After copying the game, insert it in the console and hit restart.

Step 7: After restarting, you will now be able to choose the disc channel and finally, load your backup game.

Easy, right? Follow these instructions and in no time, you’ll be able to backup your Wii games!

Backup Wii Games

After a long week at school, you are totally excited to go back home and grab hold of your Wii console and play all night long. You actually planned to kick “sleep” out of your vocabulary. But as you checked your console, you realized that all your games were scratched, and obviously, unplayable. Then you cry.

Tragic and traumatic events like these require you to do one thing: backup Wii games. Scratched or lost, you can still play your beloved Wii games if you make a backup of them. You don’t need to roll over and cry in front of your Mom in order for you to buy another copy of the game. This kind of protection for your games may be pricey, but it is worth every penny you spend for you can absolutely use it to protect all other games that you have.

There are two ways to backup Wii games: Wii modchipping and softmodding.

Wii Modchipping

Bright side of Wii modchipping:

Allows you to play Wii games burned on a blank DVD (burned using ANY copying or burning software). What happens here is that the chip allows the DVD to be read as a legitimate Wii diisk.

*Warning* Not-so-Bright Side of Wii modchipping:

  • Installing the chip requires opening the Wii console and doing so terminates the warranty of your console.
  • Opening the Wii itself is accompanied with risks. And if ever the chip is improperly installed, it can damage the console beyond repair!
  • Some chips out there are cheap in terms of quality. You may be unfortunate enough and pick the inferior and flimsy ones, and sooner or later, you’ll need (again!) another new chip.
  • You can no longer install the Wii updates.

I don’t recommend this approach!

Softmodding

A better way is softmodding.

*Good* Bright side of softmodding:

  • No need of buying and installing of a chip. Moreover, you don’t put your console at risk by physically opening it.

Not-so-Bright Side of softmodding: You will be unable to utilize free versions of copying or burning software to create your backups.

However, softmodding presents relatively smaller and fewer risks than using the modchip, so many Wii fanatics prefer this method. However, it is really up to you what to choose and pick. But you have been forewarned and informed Wii freaks! Enjoy your time playing your Wii games! :-)

Copy Wii Games

Life is full of risks. And so is the life of a Wii fanatic. :-)

Any moment, all of your games can be accidentally deleted (or intentionally destroyed by your annoying little sister!) It is for this reason that you always need to copy and keep backup files of all your games.

In order for you to copy Wii games, you either need a software (wii softmod) or a hardware (the Wii modchip). These are the two most common and efficient means in order for you to copy your games, and secure your life as a Wii freak.

Hardware: The Wii Modchip

Advantages:

  • Relatively cheaper than the Wii softmod.
  • Any ripping software will be sufficient enough to copy and play your Wii games.

*WARNING* Disadvantages:

Installing the modchip requires opening the Wii console, and once it is opened, the warranty loses its validity. If installed incorrectly, the console may be damaged permanently. And this is a serious risk (You have been warned!)

Software: The Wii Softmod

“Softmod” is probably the best way to copy Wii games. Every bit of processing is done with software, the most common of which are

*GOOD* Advantages:

  • The user can continually update his Wii and more than that, the warranty will still be valid.
  • There is no hardware to install.
  • You can continually play online with your softmod game copies.
  • You can spare yourself from the trouble of bringing your Wii console with you if ever you decide to play somewhere else (say, in your girlfriend’s bedroom :-) ) because the games will still play on any Wii (Yes! Even in a Wii with an installed modchip.)

Disadvantage: Such a software can cost you a couple of bucks. Their price starts at around $40.

If you intend to copy wii games, take a pick between the two choices given. But from the information presented, Wii softmod is the very best option. Are you ready to purchase a backup software? Before taking action, read my review of EasyBackupWizard here and get a 50% discount.

Burn Wii Games

Many Wii fanatics think that it is but hopeless to burn Wii games without hassle and without spending so much time. What they do not know is that such a task is actually easy to accomplish (minus all the technical glitches and time-consuming instructions!) With the appropriate software as well as a spot-on system configuration, copying and playing burned Wii games is piece of cake.

Tips on how to burn wii games:

Before you burn Wii games, it is important to note the most basic yet the most significant prerequisite in playing a particular burned Wii game. Such games are very easy to download especially because of their small size. However, it is imperative that the console go through a manual upgrade with a cracked software so as to let the Nintendo Wii read the burned disk. But do not sweat over such a software for it is easily downloadable in the internet (Thank God!).

  • To enable this particular mod to operate, you guys will need to acquire the “Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess”. But don’t you worry Wii freaks, for the price of this game has immensely plunged down since its release. So getting hold of your own copy will be totally easy.
  • You also have to determine whether your computer is equipped with an SD card reader. However, if you don’t have one, you can just purchase an attachment fit for computers that are able to read memory cards classified as FAT16. Furthermore, you have to search for and download the Easy Backup Wizard SD Card Installer (where else?! Of course on the internet!)
  • Next step is to directly load up the Easy Backup Wizard SD Card Installer into the FAT16 card.
  • Now that you’re done with the loading, insert the Zelda game into the CD drive as well as the SD card into the SD memory card slot of your Wii.
  • Then, go directly to the Wii memory management menu in order to delete the Zelda game data. After this, switch to the SD card with the tab and simply copy onto the console the Twilight Hack chainloader.
  • Run and operate the Twilight Princess and make sure that the main savefile is open so that the on-board hack’s installer will start loading.
  • Copy the Wii game images and put them directly into your computer (to do this, use a DVD-image burning software package.) Lastly, by using the software, make a copy into a blank disk, then burn it.
  • Finally, just insert the disk. Then, play the backup.

With all these instructions and using EasyBackupWizard, I’m sure that burning and playing Wii games will be as easy as blinking. Check out EasyBackupWizard, have a blast and enjoy! :-)
